Dave Smith - Senior Minister
In his short time back in Florida, Dave has filled a variety of roles here at First Christian Church of Winter Park, starting out as the Worship Minister, adding a role as the Administration Minister before being called as the Senior Minister in June of 2011.
His philosophy of ministry is simple: "Make a difference in people's lives and change the world in which we live through the power of and for the glory of Jesus Christ." He sees it as the role of the church in the world and strives to live that role daily as a Christian man, "becoming all things to all men... " so that some might be saved. He acknowledges his role as simply a tool in the hand of the craftsman.
Dave is widely considered the world's greatest uncle by a panel of expert judges also known as his nieces and nephews. His great enthusiasms are his heavenly father, his family, his ministry (and then in no particular order) music, writing, cheesecake, the Miami Dolphins and the movie Hoosiers.
David Fitzgerald - Student Minister
Raised in a Christian home, David has always known there is no life outside of serving Christ. He graduated from Florida Christian College, majoring in Biblical Teaching. In his final year at FCC, he was compelled by Christ to join Him at First Christian Church of Winter Park.
What began as an internship quickly developed into employment as Youth Minister. He directs the Children's and Youth Ministries. He will continue to serve the Lord in all possible capacities..."You have persevered and have endured hardships for My (Christ's) name, and have not grown weary." (Revelations 2:3)
Tara Newman - Children's Director
Tara has been serving in numerous capacities since joining our church family in 1995 and we are now blessed to have her as our Children's Minister. She has 4 grown children and 3+ grandchildren who have enjoyed the benefits of the church family here at Winter Park. Tara has a love and passion for children and a desire to help guide them into a closer walk with Jesus Christ. Tara is not only the Children's Minister but she is also Administrator at Alpha Christian Academy. "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it" (Proverbs 22:6)
